What’s K-ON! without the much anticipated inserts by the band?
Archive for July, 2009
I know I’m going to sound like some demented junkie on magic mushrooms, but anyway…
It’s about time her character appeared, as another Mio no less lol. Hopefully she stays as a minor recurring character if the cast photo indicates anything. Now we just have to wait for Satou Satomi’s and Gendai Mahou’s recording scene will turn into another small ex-K-ON! members gathering, although I like the Umineko one more. Ui = Envy, Mio = Wrath, and Yui = Lust? WIN!! ^^

Man, I seriously wish Tamura Mutsumi would get more female roles in the near future. She has such a natural mature sexy voice for someone her age and it’s a waste she mostly gets young boys ~_~. To top it off, she has an even sexier singing voice and dare I say, I actually preferred her singing over Hikasa’s back during their ShiinaTactix days //*Keiri being delusional and biased*.
Now back to Gendai Mahou, I’m…confused ^^;. What’s going on with the timeline? From the look of things, I assume Episode 2’s story happens before Episode 1’s?

I am soooooo loving this!!

To Aru Majutsu no Index-tan – Episode 2
Published July 10, 2009 Anime 2 CommentsTags: To Aru Majutsu no Index
The rainy season is here and so is summer.
Right, it looks like I’m stuck at a road block in picking what to watch this season. There are only a tiny handful of series whose background I’m already familiar with, but a large majority of them are pretty much new stuff to me. I suppose having fewer shows to watch this time is a blessing in disguise, since I’m going to be busy again soon anyway so I may end up sticking with two or three shows every week. Looking at the unfamiliars’ line-up, guess I’ll mostly have to rely on the voice cast list in making my decision.
Aoi Hana

Ah~ my much needed seasonal dosage of yuri romance goodness. I adore the Manga and it delighted me further to hear that Kasai Kenichi and Atekagawa Jin are in charge of directing and sound directing respectively. I have high respect for these two individuals based on their previous works, and knowing that reassures me Aoi Hana will be in good hands. I’ve already watched the first episode and was very pleased with how they’ve handled it so far. This will definitely be on my regular weekly watch list.
Bakemonogatari

Adapted from a light novel series. Haven’t touched this before and I’m not keen on sticking it in my future “to-read” queue either as I already have enough ongoing light novels on my current reading list. Nonetheless, it sounds like an interesting story and there has been plenty of “dark horse” hype in the otakusphere. Regarding the folks behind the TV adaptation, I admit I have a love-hate relationship when it comes to Director Shinbo + SHAFT. Granted, they are experts in orchestrating creative visual styles, but sometimes I find that they have a tendency to go overboard, especially with the random interjected parodies. Oh well, enough about the animation. It’s about the story, right?
CANAAN

Arguably the show with the biggest hype this season, so it’ll be intriguing to see the kinds of expectations which are heaped on an adaptation based on a scenario in a visual novel that was given a Famitsu perfect score. I’ve never played “428: Fuusasareta Shibuya de”, so I know nuts about the background story. But TYPE-MOON + cast is reason enough for me to check it out. Plus, MinaJun as Natsume = HAWT. It’s about time she gets back to voicing grown up women. :D
Taishou Yakyuu Musume

Ugh… 4:3 pan & scan haet haet haet. Anyway, this is another light novel which I haven’t dipped into yet. Story aside, it’s all about the awsm seiyuu line-up led by Itou Kanae and Nakahara Mai but personally for me, the one person among the cast which really pulled my interest is Arai Satomi, who is voicing English language teacher/coach-supervisor Anna Curtland. I was slightly disappointed Satomin wasn’t requested to do Romantic Radio. It’d be great if they had gotten her to co-host it with Nakahara Mai but yeah, maybe their roles don’t give them a more suitable reason than Kanae × Mai. Then again, Satomin may end up driving Mai insane like she did with Ohara Sayaka and Nabatame Hitomi last time >_>. Hmm… At least a guest appearance maybe?
Umineko no Naku Koro ni

Maria’s “Uuuuuu~” is all it takes for me to keep watching. I’ve also followed past “no Naku Koro ni” series, so it’s kind of an automatic thing for me to pick this up. Oh and Ohara Sayaka as batsh!t crazy Beatrice? Simply icing on the cake.
Yoku Wakaru Gendai Mahou

Another 0 background knowledge on this light novel series. It’s been a while since I’ve watched any Mahou Shoujo so maybe I should give this a try. Moreover, it looks like Pikasha Youko is in the cast. :3
Well, that’s about the only lot which caught my attention. I had originally planned to cover at least the first episode of every show just to test the waters but my time is a bit restricted this season, so I’ll probably miss a lot of potentially EPICWIN stuff. If there’s any series which you’d like to recommend (or advise to stay away from), do give a shout! :D
Lastly, it’s Tanabata! Darn… I didn’t get to tie my tanzaku in the shopping mall this year… :s
