Just collected a few pieces of info from around the web which piqued my curiosity; some of which are confirmed news and some are just plain rumors. To start off…
News Mill
Words regarding the subsequent episodes after the Level Upper arc are already out, and summaries of Episode 13 and 14 have been published in print and online. The following summaries were sourced from the Newtype website.
Episode 13 – ビキニは目線が上下に分かれますけど ワンピースは身体のラインが出ますから 細い方しか似合わないですよ/For a bikini, one’s gaze is divided to look above and below but for a one-piece, the body’s outline shows so it is suitable only for a slim person. (Broadcast Date: December 25, 2009)
Brief Summary
Mikoto is requested by Kuroko’s classmates from the swimming club to become a swimsuit model alongside them for a web catalog. Weh heyyyy, it’s another kyun kyun nosebleed-worthy adventure for our Hentai Desu no-chan.
Episode 14 – 特別講習/Special Short Course (Broadcast Date: January 8, 2010)
Brief Summary
One day during summer vacation, Saten visits a certain high school to undergo a special short course. There, she meets students from different schools and takes lessons from a teacher who looks like an elementary school kid (sounds familiar?). Although the students feel awfully carefree while taking the course, there seems to be something more to it than meets the eye. Lolicons should be happy.
According to some comments in boards like 2chan, Animedia magazine hinted Episode 14 to have a follow-up plot dedicated to showing the daily lives of Level Upper users after the event. Sounds like a speculation more than anything else. If that really was the case, my question is – why is the swimsuit episode aired before this? :p
Rumor Mill
Right, on to the more erroneous end of things… The only piece of news which excites me more than learning about the plot of future episodes is finding out which seiyuu were picked for characters due to appear perhaps in the second half of Railgun. Everything cited below are pure rumors btw. One netter claimed s/he saw the new cast list in some magazine with his/her own eyes but has yet to produce proof due to not having the article at hand. I’m too lazy and broke to head out and hunt for this magazine so if anyone has a copy and can confirm this, do give a shout. I must admit though, whether this list is a rumor or not, it is still pretty delicious. :3
Members of ITEM:
Mugino Shizuri – Tanaka Rie (HOLY SH━━!!!! “Fits like a glove” is such an understatement!)
Kinuhata Saiai – Kitamura Eri
Frenda – MAKO
Takitsubo Rikou – Takagaki Ayahi
Telestina – Ohara Sayaka
Index light novels and Railgun manga readers as well as seiyuu fans would prolly snigger over this. I certainly did, even though the source isn’t officially confirmed. However, there are some ambiguous evidences out there which seem to support that casting:
1. Ohara Sayaka posted her role as Telestina at her official website.
2. A listener sent a mail to Kitamura Eri’s ChouRaji show asking her if she and MAKO are recently acting in an Anime together after reading MAKO’s blog entry (No.519) that she had lunch with KitaEri. (Apart from fangirling over MAKO) KitaEri hinted and teased listeners that she could be acting alongside MAKO but understandably did not disclose any details regarding what series they were acting in.
Those net sources may not be trustworthy, but I’d say that selection is actually a very appropriate list taking into account the characters and the VAs who are known to have worked with Railgun’s sound director, Aketagawa Jin. If I had to list my own choices, Tanaka Rie would undoubtedly be my No.1 pick for Mugino and I’d vote Takagaki Ayahi for Rikou too, tho’ I may prefer Ise Mariya/Sanpei Yuuko/Fujimura Ayumi for Saiai and Saitou Chiwa for Frenda. In any case, there are some missing info which left lingering questions about that list. For one, a certain Nunotaba Shinobu who has an important role in the next canon manga arc isn’t present among the names, which led me to assume they may not actually proceed with that arc after the Level Upper story. If anything, there’s too little material at present to stretch that arc into a proper 10 episodes run without padding it with either Anime original fillers or even plot from the light novels. Hmm… There is still that canon side story which was packaged with Index’s Blu-ray/DVD extras. As for whether the above cast list is true, we’ll just need to see if ITEM shows up in Episode 12. It could be the only time they’ll ever appear in the Railgun Anime for now.
Time to wait for more news to confirm some speculations. Will update this post if there’s something new.
