After many, many chapters of prolonged adventures with Negi and gang hiding from the authorities, battling wild beasts and training to level up, finally… FINALLY…

Negima!? Episode 7 – Parody Jabbers

That’s SHAFT for you. They simply couldn’t resist poking fans HARD. PPD and Tsukuyomi aside, the staff went totally whack with OTT randomness in Ep 7. Ingenious. So ingenious.

Negima!? SPARKING!!

Negima!? continues to stun me with its overwhelmingly rich visuals and fluid animation. The opening was. Just. WOW!! It was so heavy and crazy! One of the best video sequences of the year! I was utterly impressed by the downright creativity of it all. It would have been awesome if it was in full color. From what I’ve heard, there may be several different versions of it since they’re trying to get all of the major characters to perform the opening, not just the Big 4 (Negi, Asuna, Konoka and Setsuna). Now that’s something to pine for next. As for the meat of the episode, I’m at loss for words during Eva-sama and Negi’s short showdown. It has been a good long while since I’ve watched a series which has such a marvelous display of mahou battles. As usual, it’s too bad these eye candies last for only a few minutes.

Poor Makie. The camera didn’t focus on her properly and they still cut her off. Why are they so mean to her? XD

Now I know what they meant when they said Secchan goes into a delusional mode whenever it concerns Konoka LOL. She sounded so paranoid here.

Negima!? First Impression

So I finally went and gave myself a good hard kick in the rear to spend hours of my weekend watching the notorious product known as Mahou Sensei Negima! 1st Season. I don’t know why… I just felt compelled to stick my nose into it despite knowing how much fans said it sucked. I managed to gulp the whole thing in 2 days. What can I say? It sucked all right. I’ve never seen a series this awfully butchered before. The finale was one of the most WTF episodes in the entire history of Anime. If you’ve watched it, you’d know what I mean, although it’s completely understandable if you quit halfway through. They did leave the major plot lines in but they excluded most of the brilliantly good stuff that was featured in the Manga. Furthermore, they rushed the events as though their pants were on fire, and that was a huge turn-off. I guess the only props I would honestly give to it is more “obvious” KonoSetsu goodness, like that chuu scene :3. Other than that, it’s just below average. Fortunately, Negima!? Episode 1 was on standby as a remedy right after that marathon to purge my eyes of whatever I just saw. And man, was I really glad to see something as refreshing as this!

Only a couple more days to go before Negima!? hits the screen. I’ve begun re-reading some of the old chapters of the original Manga, spending most of my time slowly and thoroughly going over one of the best stories again – The Kyoto Arc. Of course that includes me browsing through my music collection and digging up a song which I love but have unfortunately neglected playing as often as I used to. It’s a no-brainer that song is “Sei Naru Sora no Shita de”, which is obviously the main theme of KonoSetsu madness. I’m looping it now, and felt guilty for not leaving it among my favorite pile. I luuurve Kobayashi Yuu’s singing voice! ~^^~

Ooh… Secchan and Eva-sama looks more awesome than ever. It seems the story this time will be a spin-off of the original, which means different adventures, but with the same old faces. Aan~ I wish they would continue with the first season instead. Never mind :). If the plot turns out to be interesting and catchy, most of us won’t complain. I SO CAN’T WAIT!!
